Reflective Practice: Facilitated connection, reflection, and support for educators

Description: Feeling burned out and depleted from your experiences with the pressures of schooling in a pandemic and seeking connected support, ideas and inspiration as the marathon continues? If so, this offering is for you! Reflective Practice is a well-established modality of “helping helpers,” and it does so in two main ways: It offers a familiar, consistent, supportive space to share your feelings about work freely, without consequence or unsolicited advice; and it also offers the opportunity to receive consultation and intervention ideas from your trusted peers, facilitated by a school and clinical psychologist, for those weeks when you’ve already used all the tools in your toolbox. The combination of emotion processing, shared experience, and specific strategies provides you with an experience of being supported and provided for, which can free up your bandwidth to offer a parallel experience of caring and support to your students and their families.

Intended Audience: Classroom teachers, special educators, coaches, school counselors, school social workers, school nurses, instructional assistants, behavior interventionists, and any other service providers.

Dates/Times: Monthly virtual small groups will be formed based on rank ordered selections of dates and times in registration. Groups that fall during vacation weeks will be rescheduled. Groups will be 75-minutes long.

Facilitator: Gillian Boudreau
