Input, Feedback, and Choice

Implementing PBIS with fidelity while actively engaging and elevating the voices of all partners creates a prosocial and supportive community that serves as the foundation for mental health prevention, facilitates culturally relevant and equitable implementation and outcomes, and creates environments that support effective instruction (TFI Companion Guide, www.pbis.org).

What does input and feedback in PBIS look like in action?

  • Staff, student, and family/caregiver voice, choice, and ownership is valued and honored.
  • Staff, student, and family/caregiver participation, input, and feedback is invited, encouraged, and welcomed.
  • Representative groups of staff, students, families/caregivers, and community partners participate on teams to provide different perspectives.
  • Bi-directional communication is established to ensure an equitable balance of input and feedback.
