Intro to Restorative Practices within MTSS Webinar

October 29, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Free

Whole School Restorative Approaches involve principle-based processes and practices that can be applied to help things go right as well as respond when things go wrong. This approach links well within the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework and has been shown to improve school climate, culture, and academics—as well reduce exclusionary disciplinary practices. School-wide restorative practices build relationships, community, and promote a sense of belonging throughout the school. Research repeatedly finds that youth who report high levels of connection to their school are less likely to binge drink or use drugs in young adulthood (CDC and Child Trends).

This interactive webinar will serve as an orientation or reorientation to Restorative Practices. Participants will recall their current understanding of key elements of restorative approaches and PBIS; deepen their understanding of restorative practices at all three tiers with a focus on application at the universal level; and learn how to apply a restorative approach to their existing framework.

Who should attend? We encourage you to attend with others from the same school in order to increase your school’s implementation capacity. Schools that receive the School-based Substance Abuse Services Grant (SBSAS); VTPBIS Leadership Teams including school administrators and PBIS Coordinators at the school and/or SU/SD level.
